Level 3 - Playing Principles

The course asks, ‘What are you going to do?”

These are the basic STRATEGIC SKILLS needed to PLAY GOLF!

Principle 7 - Put the Ball in Play (and keep it there) the true key to shooting your best score is to start by putting the ball in play.  If you can manage to do this for the entire hole, it eliminates penalty strokes that don’t even give you the joy of the strike!

Aim aggressively at conservative targets all day long and you will have less (or no) tough recoveries

Principle 8 - Pitch the ball on the green whether you are 5 feet off the green or 180 yards, if you consistently pitch the ball onto the green into a position to make a putt (30’ or less), your scores will drop. This penultimate objective is get the ball on the green as fast as possible. Once you are able to do that consistently, then work on getting it as close as possible.

Principle 9 - Put(t) the ball in the hole.  The object of the game!  Improve your ability to turn 4 strokes into 3, 3 into 2 or even 2 into 1 and you will improve your scores quickly!  The skills for this are simple, but they are skills that need to be honed.  A simple stroke.  A consistent face angle at impact.  A solid understanding of how to power a stroke for different lengths and the ability to apply this skill consistently will make you a better putter.

Master these 9 Principles of Golf and you will become far more proficient at moving the ball around the course in fewer and fewer strokes. Hopefully, that will correlate with your level of enjoyment going up!
